考生应能掌握5500左右的词汇以及相关词组。除掌握词汇的基本含义外,考生还应掌握词汇之间的词义关系,掌握词汇之间的搭配关系,掌握词汇生成的基本知识。

1. ridiculous

adj.  可笑的,荒谬的;荒唐的,愚蠢的;

2. rigid

3. ripe

5. rot

n.      腐烂,腐朽;

[例句]If we don't unload it soon, the grain will start rotting in the silos.

6. roundabout

7. row

14. uncover

15. underestimate

[例句]None of us should ever underestimate the degree of difficulty women face in career advancement.
